COLUMBUS (Ohio) - Una voting machine va in tilt e, come per magia, i voti per il candidato George W. Bush si moltiplicano. E' accaduto, durante le ultime elezioni presidenziali, in Ohio, lo stato che ha deciso l'esito della competizione.

I risultati non ufficiali della contea di Gahanna, un sobborgo di Columbus, attribuivano a Bush 4.258 voti, contro gli appena 260 ottenuti di John F. Kerry. Un successo senza appello. Peccato che i registri del collegio elettorale abbiano mostrato, successivamente, che a Gahanna hanno votato soltanto 638 persone.

Nessuno è stato finora in grado di spiegare il motivo dell'errore. Non è chiaro, inoltre, quale modello di macchina elettorale elettronica abbia causato il problema. Il dubbio è che situazioni del genere possano essersi verificate altrove nello stato dell'Ohio, dove Bush ha conquistato 136 mila voti in più dello sfidante democratico.

Quello odierno è solo l'ultimo di una serie di errori con le "voting machine" riportati in vari stati dell'Unione. In una contea del North Carolina circa 4.500 voti sono andati persi perché la memoria del computer che doveva conteggiarli non era in grado di contenerli tutti. Anche a San Francisco, a causa di un malfunzionamento in un software, non è stato ancora possibile proclamare il vincitore di una competizione locale.

Il povero Kerry, ha capito troppo tardi che la cricca di bush e' una vera e propria holding dell'imbroglio. Lo stesso Kerry ha fatto notare ieri in un intervista, che l'apparizione (provvidenziale) del video di "bin salam bin laden", a quattro giorni delle elezioni, ha spavenatato gli americani, buttandoli cosi' nelle braccia "paterne" e protettive del piccolo uomo di Washington. Mossa quantomai azzeccata dato che il paparino george senior ha parecchia esperienza d' intelligence e di come manipolare certe notizie. E meno male che c'era qualcuno che sbraitava sul fatto che a sinistra si speculasse sulla comparsa improvvisa di laden (in frigorifero, o in video e' la stessa cosa) per le elezioni. Puntualmente e per la seconda volta laden e' giunto in aiuto del suo amico george.
